New Zealand beat Netherland by 99 runs in Match 6 of the World Cup 2023.
New Zealand continued their winning run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they beat the Netherlands by 99 runs on Monday, October 09 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After being put in to bat first, New Zealand posted 322/7 with Will Young top scoring with his knock of 70 (80) smashing seven fours and two sixes. Apart from him, Rachin Ravindra (51 off 51) and Tom Latham (53 off 46) also scored half-centuries.
In reply, Netherlands didn’t get off to a good start as opener Vikramjit Singh (12 off 20) was dismissed in the sixth over as he lost his stumps against Matt Henry. Max ODowd (16 off 31) and Bas de Leede (18 off 25) also departed cheaply leaving their side reeling on 67/3. With wickets falling from one end, Colin Ackerman played a magnificent innings of 69 (73) smashing five fours in his innings.

He was finally dismissed in the 33rd over by Mitchell Santner. Captain Scott Edwards (30 off 27) and Sybrand Engelbrecht (29 off 34) played handy knocks lower down the order but it was too high a mountain left to be climbed by them. As a result, the Netherlands were bundled out for 223 in 46.3 overs with Mitchell Santner picking 5/59 in ten overs. Matt Henry also picked up 3/40 in 8.3 overs while Rachin Ravindra (1/46) also picked up one wicket.
With this win, New Zealand continue their reign at the top of the ODI World Cup 2023 Points table having four points from two matches at a healthy net run rate of +1.958. On the other hand, Netherlands find themselves on the eighth spot with no wins from two matches.
New Zealand to next face Bangladesh
The Kiwis will look to continue their winning momentum as they next lock horns with Bangladesh on Friday, October 13 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. On the other hand, the Netherlands will be desperate for their first win as they face South Africa on Tuesday, October 17at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
