The wait is finally over for India's young batting sensation Shubman Gill after he was named in the playing eleven for his side's third Test against Australia in Indore. Fans were delighted after getting their wish as under-fire Indian opener KL Rahul failed to make the cut for the third game of the series.

Shubman Gill's inclusion in the side became increasingly certain after KL Rahul failed to impress in the second Test in Delhi. While Rahul's place in the side came under scrutiny from the fans and experts alike, the 23-year-old's absence from the playing eleven frustrated a fair few. Gill has been in rollicking form in white-ball cricket since the turn of the year and is expected to replicate the same in the longest form of the game.

While Gill's inclusion in the playing eleven for the Indore Test was on expected lines, the team management caught everyone by surprise after resting the in-form Mohammed Shami for the third Test. Veteran Indian pacer Umesh Yadav, who recently mourned the demise of his father, has been drafted in the eleven in place of Shami.

India's victory in Delhi meant that the hosts retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, leaving an uphill task for the visiting Aussie side. The visitors, who are led by Steve Smith in the absence of Pat Cummins, have named Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green into the playing eleven after they recovered from their respective injuries.

While Starc replaces his regular skipper in the team, Green has been drafted into the team ahead of veteran opening batter David Warner, who struggled in the last two Test matches of the series.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Shubman Gill replacing KL Rahul for Indore Test:
