The first Test against England at Lords is certainly not going well for South Africa’s highly rated bowler Kagiso Rabada. The bowler was one of South Africa’s most lethal weapons to rattle the English top order before the start of the Test, failed to live up to the expectations at least in the first inning. To pile on the misery, the bowler now faces a 1 match ban which will see him sit out of the second Test scheduled to take place at Trent Bridge from 14-18 July.

The incident:

Things did not go well for the fiery fast bowler from the very beginning as he went without a wicket in his first 15 overs. He finally got his reward in the form of the wicket of English all-rounder Ben Stokes. The bowler made his feelings public which was a mix of a bit of frustration and joy as he threw abuses at Stokes after the wicket.

The promising talent picked up another demerit point for the incident which added to the three he picked up against Sri Lanka in February earlier this year. The 22-year-old was involved in a verbal altercation with Sri Lanka batsman Niroshan Dickwella during Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa.

However, cricketers all around the world came in support of the bowler with a gruelling action and expressed their views on social media platform Twitter. According to most of them, it is a pretty harsh decision to suspend the player for such a petty cause. The cricketers believe that this type of incidents is quite common in cricket and is a part of the game. Holding a player guilty for such things will only hamper the competitive nature of the sport.

Legendary England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who was a success story for the country for his flamboyant stroke play, labelled Rabada as a star and stated that the absence of a star from the second Test is always negative.
