Courtesy brilliant performances from Dan Christian and D’Arcy Short, the Hobart Hurricanes romped to their 2nd consecutive victory in the tournament by defeating the Adelaide Strikers after losing the first two matches. Winning the toss, Hobart Hurricanes asked the opposition to bat.
Openers Ben Dunk and Weatherald began in an impressive fashion and shared a 40 runs partnership before Dunk perished on the final ball of the 4th over. Two more wickets fell in quick time as the Strikers slid to 46/3. Veteran middle-order batsman Brad Hodge played a valiant knock and scored yet another half-century in his T20 career but his efforts were not enough to take the Strikers’ total beyond 143 in their allotted 20 overs.
Dan Christian was brilliant with the ball and used his variations to perfection. He finished with a rare five-wicket haul in T20s and was supported pretty well by Stuart Broad who bowled economically and chipped in with a solitary wicket.
Chasing a modest 144 to win D’Arcy Short and Tim Paine got off to an ideal start and started scoring runs at brisk pace. While Short continued on his merry way with his brutal strokeplay, Paine was a little sedate and played 2nd fiddle. The duo shared a 105 runs partnership in 12 overs before Short was dismissed by Billy Stanlake. Pain too fell in quick time but it wasn’t enough to stage a fightback as far as the Adelaide Strikers were concerned.

Veteran Sri Lanka international Kumar Sangakkara played well for his 22 and George Bailey was the man at the other end when Sangakkara hit the winning runs. It was an overwhelming performance by the Hurricanes after losing two consecutive catches in the beginning of the tournament.
Twitteratti was pretty active throughout the match and there were certain tweets which described the proceedings in the best possible way. Here are some of the best tweets from the match.

Batting hasn't been a problem for @HurricanesBBL. Interesting the flexibility of the attack with 3 spinners, one spearhead in Broad. No Tait

This is the seventh partnership of 100 or more for @HurricanesBBL in BBL history. Paine has been part of four of them. #BBL06 #Canetrain

Australians currently have a dilemma on whether to support Stuart Broad or not. #BBL06

Not to be too harsh but is Pollard extremely overrated? All talk and no game, 11 off 11 just when the team needed him #BBL06 #strikeforce
