The Sri Lankan team was brutally trolled as they wore masks and avoided taking the field due to the smog.
As the title suggests, Day 2 provided lots of action in terms of cricket as well as drama in the midst. The day began with Virat Kohli continuing from where he left yesterday. He went on to register his sixth double century in test cricket. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma also managed to score a fifty before losing his wicket.
However, Kohli continued to bat stupendously as he surpassed his highest ever test score. It seemed like the Indian skipper was inching towards a triple century. However, he was dismissed LBW for 243, an innings which had 25 boundaries.
India were 536/7 when smog started playing a toll on the Sri Lankan players. The situation became so worse that they ran out of substitutes. You could watch the Sri Lankan physio and coach donning the whites. Kohli who got restless at the dressing room decided to declare the innings following all the drama.
Lakshan Sandakan was the pick amongst the Sri Lankan bowlers with four wickets. Lahiru Gamage managed to get a couple of wickets as well. Dilruwan Perera got the lone wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. The likes of Suranga Lakmal and Dhananjaya De Silva went wicketless.
Sri Lanka didn’t have a great start as Dimuth Karunaratne was dismissed off the first ball. Mohammed Shami was all fired up as he bowled an exciting spell. Ishant Sharma trapped Dhananjaya in front of the stumps as Sri Lanka were left reeling at 14/2. There were a couple of dropped catches by Dhawan and Kohli too.
Dilruwan Perera who opened the proceedings for the visitors scored 40. While the umpire adjudged it not out, Ravindra Jadeja reviewed the decision. The hawk eye suggested that the ball was clearly hitting the wickets as the umpire overturned the decision.
Angelo Mathews coming in at No.4, played a fantastic knock of 57 as he remained not out. He and Dinesh Chandimal managed to combine for an unbeaten partnership of 56 runs. Sri Lanka were 131/3 at stumps on Day 2.
