Twitter Reactions: Hales and De Villiers maul Dhaka Dynamites in Chattogram
ABD scored the ton in 50 balls.
The match between Rangpur Riders and Dhaka Dynamites in Chattogram turned out to be an exciting one. In the end, it was the Riders, who managed to win by eight wickets on a batting paradise. Most importantly, they won their fourth match in a row and moved to the top of the points table courtesy of AB de Villiers and Alex Hales’ brilliance. Meanwhile, Dhaka lost their fourth game in their last five matches.
Talukdar takes charge
The Dynamites won the toss and opted to bat first and the decision paid dividends as they racked up a significant 186 for six. Hazratullah Zazai and Sunil Narine opened the batting and put on 35 runs, after which Farhad Reza got rid of Zazai for 17. In the next over, left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam nipped out Narine, who looked dangerous with 28 runs from 19 balls with three fours and a couple of sixes.
However, Rony Talukdar and skipper Shakib cobbled together a stand of 54 runs for the third wicket. Shakib went hammer and tongs to score 25 with four fours before being dismissed by Reza. Nevertheless, Talukdar went on to notch 52 runs from 32 deliveries with six fours and a six. Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard scored breezy 14 and 37 respectively to propel the Dynamites’ score.
Hales and de Villiers dictate terms
The Riders lost the hulk-like Chris Gayle and Rilee Russouw to Russell and were reduced to 5/2 in 1.5 overs. Those were the only moments of joy for the Dynamites as Alex Hales and AB de Villiers didn’t allow their opponents to stay put in their domination. Initially, both mixed caution with aggression and made sure that the scoreboard keeps ticking, therefore keeping the required run-rate in check.
The duo made the match a one-sided affair to such an extent that the Riders needed six runs from the last 15 balls. De Villiers went on to accomplish a century in 50 balls and his knock was laced with eight boundaries and as many as six sixes. Hales was unstoppable as well, having scored 85 runs from 53 balls with eight fours and three sixes. The stand racked up 184 runs and the Riders won with 10 balls to spare.
