Twitter Reactions: Hazratullah Zazai whacks six sixes in a single over in the APL
He got out after scoring 62 runs off just 17 balls.
The inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) has witnessed some scintillating hitting so far. While Hazratullah Zazai hogged the limelight with his 55-ball 124 recently, the left-handed swashbuckling batsman is once again in the news for hitting six sixes in a single over. The APL debutant Abdullah Mazari was at the receiving end of the assault as the batsman also reached his half-century off just 12 deliveries.
After the Balkh Legends posted a record total of 244 runs batting first after 20 overs, the Kabul Zwanan needed one of their top order batsmen to take the onus to score quick runs. Hazratullah was capable of doing the same and the 20-year-old achieved the unimaginable sensationally. The fourth over the innings proved to be the game-changing one as he didn’t spare the left-arm spinner at all.
Zazai lit up Sharjah
Kabul got off to a decent start and the fact that they didn’t lose a wicket kept the pressure on the legends. But the required run-rate was jumping up with every over and they constantly needed big overs. Mohammad Nabi brought Mazari into the attack to surprise the batsmen but the move failed miserably. Hazratullah Zazai launched an assault on him.
The bowler looked completely looked undercooked as he dished out some length deliveries to the batsman. Each and every bowl he delivered was in the slot for Zazai and he didn’t miss out on the opportunity. Mazari also bowled a wide and eventually went on to concede 37 runs in an over. Zazai mostly leg-side which is his hitting zone and the record sixth maximum came straight down the ground as the bowler tried to go wide.
Zazai’s blitzkrieg helped Zwanan get off to a brilliant start as they can realistically think of chasing down 245 runs. The left-hander eventually got out on 62 off just 17 balls with 4 fours and seven massive sixes to his name. It will be interesting to see if his team will be able to capitalise on this start.
