The second Test between India and West Indies kicked off at Kingston with captain Jason Holder winning the toss and electing to bat first. Virat Kohli didn’t mind losing it as he admitted that they were looking to bowl anyway.

West Indies added the debutant Cummins in place of Brathwaite while India had KL Rahul coming in place of the injured Vijay. It wasn’t a great beginning for the Windies as Ishant and Shami left them reeling at 7/3 at one stage. They recovered well with Blackwood scoring a scintillating half century but got out just before lunch.

In the second session, it was Ashwin who turned the tide in India’s favour with another five-wicket haul. The Windies batsmen found it difficult to pick him as he registered figures of 5/52. The last pair did cause some frustration to the Indian bowlers as they scored 38 runs between them.

On the other hand, India began well. While Dhawan got out on 27, KL Rahul continued his great form as he was not out on 75* and on his way to a superb knock. Pujara hanged on for the time being as India ended the day at 126-1, trailing by just 70 runs.
