Twitter Reactions: KL Rahul lights up Dubai with a scintillating ton against RCB
Rahul scored an unbeaten 132 off 69 balls to propel KXIP to 206 runs.
How did KL Rahul miss out in the game against Delhi Capitals (DC)? He more than made up for his failure and plundered the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowlers. Rahul played throughout the innings for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and amassed an unbeaten 132 runs off just 69 balls with 14 fours and seven massive maximums. KXIP, on the back of his exceptional knock, posted a mammoth total of 206 runs for the loss of three wickets.
He opened the innings alongside Mayank Agarwal and played second fiddle to his partner. The duo added 57 runs in seven overs before Yuzvendra Chahal struck. Nicholas Pooran came out to bat at three but he saw his captain opening up his arms after fall of Agarwal’s wicket. Rahul made sure that he eked out a four or a six almost every year.
The talented batsman stitched 56 runs with Pooran who struggled to even maintain a strike-rate of 100. However, nothing mattered to KL Rahul in the middle as he kept on scoring runs at a swift rate. Glenn Maxwell also endured his second failure but the fact that the KXIP skipper was in the middle, the run-rate never dropped.
KL Rahul plunders Dale Steyn and Shivam Dube
To make things worse for RCB, their skipper Virat Kohli dropped his counterpart not once but twice and the result of it was dreadful. KL Rahul literally didn’t spare even the likes of Dale Steyn in the death overs to churn out as many as 49 runs in the last two overs.
He played some sublime strokes easily clearing the long boundaries at the Dubai International stadium. Rahul three sixes and two fours in the 19th over off Steyn and then disturbed Shivam Dube’s figures hitting him for 23 runs (Karun Nair hit one four) to end unbeaten on 132 at the end of the innings.
It was one of the best innings in the IPL ever and KL Rahul also became the fastest Indian to cross the 2000-run mark in the tournament during his exceptional knock.
