Twitter Reactions: Mayank Agarwal scores 2nd consecutive ton; Virat Kohli smashes unbeaten fifty
India ended their Day 1 play at 273/3.
On Thursday, India was due to play the 2nd Test of their home season against South Africa in Pune. Before the match kicked off there were some speculations that the match might get delayed due to rain, but it didn’t happen the way it was expected. The match started off at its scheduled time.
India got a good start to their day as they won the toss and elected to bat first against the visitors and Day 1 of the second Test match against South Africa went pretty much into the hands of India as the in-form Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has replicated his good form with the bat and scored his 2nd ton of the series. South African bowlers looked pretty normal as they remained successful in taking three wickets on Day 1.
Mayank Agarwal looked magnificent, but Rohit Sharma went cheaply
Mayank played the bowlers brilliantly and registered his 2nd consecutive ton against South Africa. Rohit Sharma, the Man of the Match of the 1st Test went out cheaply as he gave his wicket to Kagiso Rabada at his individual score of 14 runs. After that, the young batsman from Karnataka decently supported his senior partner Cheteshwar Pujara and they did a good partnership of 138 runs for 3rd wicket. Pujara yet again failed to get his first ton after he got settled and then threw his wicket to Rabada after playing a good knock of 58 runs.
Later, Kohli, the Indian skipper stole the show by scoring his 23rd fifty in the longest format of this game and is now heading towards the 26th century of his career with Ajinkya Rahane playing at 18 runs.
Rabada looked excellent
Rabada had a good start to his day in the 2nd Test and was the only bowler to take wickets for his side during full day game. At first, he dismissed Rohit Sharma at a low score of 14 runs, followed by the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara (58) and Mayank Agarwal (108). Other protea bowlers struggled for the wickets on the Pune wicket.
