Twitter Reactions: Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan shine as Pakistan dominates West Indies in T20Is opener
Pakistan took the 1-0 lead in the three-match T20Is.
The first T20I of the three-match series between Pakistan and the West Indies got underway in Karachi. Pakistan won the match by a huge margin of 63 runs, making it their 18th consecutive win (most by any team) in a calendar year. The visiting nation, after winning the toss, decided to roll their arms first only to see a huge target set in front. As soon as Pakistan openers came to the crease, Babar Azam was sent back without even letting him open his account.
Azam’s early dismissal was a great start for the visiting nation but they couldn’t capitalize on their chances. Fakhar Zaman was also shown the way back after scoring 10 runs and the home side appeared in for some trouble. However, what followed next was an absolute show of smashing the ball all over the field.
Mohammad Rizwan, who is already having a brilliant year to remember, came to the party once again and the cherry on the cake happened while he was joined by on song Haider Ali. While Rizwan set the tone with his 78 off 52, Ali’s 68 off 39 deliveries appeared perfect for the occasions.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Pakistan’s win
Shadab Khan shines with the ball for Pakistan
The final touch to the scoreboard was given by Mohammad Nawaz who played a quickfire cameo of 30 off 10 balls, pushing Pakistan to post good 200 runs on the board. Romario Shepherd got two wickets under his belt but went costly all the way while conceding at 10.75. Akeal Hosein picked a wicket while checking the run flow with a 4.75 economy rate.
As soon as the guests started to bat, they started losing wickets in quick succession with none of the batters playing the required innings. While touching the score of 80, they had already lost their six wickets and the required run rate mounting over 16 didn’t look possible at all for the lower middle order and tail-enders. Shai Hope’s 31 off 26 at the top appeared to be the only bright spot in WI’s batting setup.
Shadab Khan turned out to be the stunner with the ball by picking three wickets while conceding at an impressive 4.75. Mohammad Wasim picked four wickets for Pakistan.
