Twitter Reactions: MS Dhoni tuns interviewer into the interviewee
Indian skipper MS Dhoni turned the interviewer into an interviewee in the post-match press conference after the 2nd semi-final against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India lost the game by 7 wickets and were sent crashing out of the tournament that they are hosting at home. Dhoni said in the post-match presentation said that they were probably 10-15 runs short and that two of his main bowlers went for too many runs that he might have liked.
West Indies had previously chased 189 against the England team in their group match on a pure batting wicket at Wankhede and Windies captain Darren Sammy didn’t hesitate to bowl first after winning the toss. India did well with their new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan in the team. Then again it was Virat Kohli who made an excellent 89* to power India to 192 runs in the 20 overs; but probably, they were 10-15 runs short on a pitch where England chased 229.
West Indies lost Chris Gayle early, but after that Johnson Charles and Lendl Simmons made sure that West Indies stayed in the hunt throughout the match and Andre Russell provided the last over impetus to win the match easily.
In the post match conference MS Dhoni was his normal cheeky self when it came to answering questions about India’s defeat at the hands of West Indies. An Australian journalist asked Dhoni about his retirement plans and Dhoni being Dhoni called the reporter to the dais and asked him questions like if he thought he was unfit and if he can continue till the 2019 World Cup and the reporter himself answered the question and Dhoni had the whole room in laughter.
