India was up against New Zealand in their second game of the T20 World Cup 2021 and it turned to be another heartbreaking story after being clueless against Pakistan. The time from when the coin went in the air, nothing went in favour of the Indian team rather they couldn’t turn it in their favour as they lost the contest by eight wickets. With this loss, not did India lose another big contest in the T20 WC 2021 but got almost kicked out of the tournament.

Winning the toss, New Zealand chose to show in with the bowl first, and yet again, Indian batters kept failing as they had never ever played on those conditions. India lost one wicket after the other and literally, not even one batter made it count. Had it not been Hardik Pandya’s 23 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 26 towards the end, the men in blue wouldn’t have been able to breach the 100-run mark.

Ish Sodhi makes the work easy for the New Zealand team in the mega contest

After putting in so much effort towards the end, India posted 110 runs on the board and it was just a child’s play for the New Zealanders. Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi were adamant to break the back of the batters as they picked two and three wickets respectively to put their team in the driver’s seat. Ish Sodhi was perfect with his line and length as he conceded at an impressive 4.20 and was ultimately declared as the player of the match.

When the chase game of the Kiwis began, everything moved very smoothly for them as their batters showed perfect intent while Indian bowlers kept losing their goals. Though Martin Guptill showed his back after adding 20 runs, the rest of the work was carried out with utmost smoothness by Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell.

While Williamson scored crucial 33 runs, Mitchell remained one run short of his half-century but made a great mark with his 49 off 35. Jasprit Bumrah got both the wickets for India and displayed some respectable performance from the otherwise lost slot.
