Pakistan finished day 1 with 304 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq unbeaten on 90. He was expected to ease to yet another century but fell 4 runs short as Shannon Gabriel trapped him in front of the stumps to give Pakistan an early blow. The lower order came in and contributed valuable runs for the team.

Yasir Shah scored 23, Sarfaraz Ahmed got to his half century and was dismissed for 56, Mohammad Nawaz and Sohail Khan also contributed 25 and 26 runs respectively to take the team total to 452 before they were bowled out. West Indies were handed an initial jolt as Rahat Ali had the better of Leon Johnson in the 14th over of the game with just 27 runs on the board while he had scored 12.

West Indian star from the previous game Darren Bravo was determined to do well this time as well but before he could get to his 17th Test fifty he was dismissed on 43 by Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir Shah. Towards the end of the day while West Indies aimed for safety the Pakistan bowlers looked to end the day with another couple of wickets.

It was the hosts whose plans materialized as Kraig Brathwaite was first run out by the pair of Misbah and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed for 21. Marlon Samuels who had hit six boundaries on his way to 30 was caught by Sami Aslam off the bowling of Rahat Ali. At stumps on day 2 West Indies had two new men at the crease and were yet to open their account while they had added 106 runs to the team total for the loss of four wickets in the first innings.
