Twitter Reactions: Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant set up Super Kings' clash for DC on Friday
The Capitals prevailed in the thriller of a run-chase.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) romped to a victory by two wickets against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator in Visakhapatnam. The game went right down to the last over in which Amit Mishra got out obstructing the field. In the end, it was the Capitals, who came out trumps with one ball left. After the triumph, DC will now face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, May 10 in Vizag itself.
Guptill top scores for the Sunrisers
The Capitals won the toss and elected to field first. The SRH openers- Wriddhiman Saha and Martin Guptill put on 31 runs for the opening wicket. Ishant Sharma got rid of Saha to strike first blood. However, Martin Guptill kept going for the big shots and smacked four sixes in his knock of 36 from 19. Amit Mishra got the crucial wicket after the powerplay. Manish Pandey found it tough to get going.
Pandey crawled to a 36-ball 30 with three fours and he fell prey to Keemo Paul. Run-scoring became a tad tough after the first six overs. Kane Williamson scored 28 off 27 after which Ishant Sharma castled him with a Yorker. Vijay Shankar blazed away to 25 off 11 balls following which he mistimed one off Trent Boult. Mohammad Nabi scored 20 off 13 and SRH racked up a decent 162 in their 20 overs.
Pant plays yet another blunder
The Capitals got off to a blistering start as Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw cobbled together a partnership of 66 runs from 45 deliveries. Dhawan started with a couple of fours and then Shaw took over and played some awe-inspiring strokes. Deepak Hooda put an end to the stand, dismissing Dhawan, stumped by Saha. Three overs later, speedster Khaleel Ahmed found Shreyas Iyer’s outside edge.
Meanwhile, Shaw got to his fifty in 34 balls but became Khaleel’s second victim. Shaw scored 56 off 38 balls with six fours and two sixes. Rashid Khan trapped Colin Munro in front and he got Axar Patel as well. Under pressure, Pant hammered Basil Thampi for 21 runs in five balls. Pant perished after getting 49 off 21. Keemo Paul smacked Khaleel for a four through deep mid-wicket to win DC the game.
