The third day of the England-India opening Test started with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant taking the pads for India as they looked keen on giving the visitors a much-needed lead. Though Pant couldn’t add much from his end and went after scoring 25 runs, Rahul remained adamant taking hold of one end. He hit stunning 84 runs from his willow and made his Test comeback a remarkable one.
All was going fine for the Karnataka batsman and he was already dropped twice but luck couldn’t favour him any further as England’s magician James Anderson trapped him. However, what followed next from Ravindra Jadeja was absolutely wonderful and he made every ball count. As he couldn’t contribute much from the ball, he looked adamant to make a mark with the bat by smashing 56 runs off 86 deliveries.
Jasprit Bumrah does unexpected for India
When everyone thought it’s all over for India, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah (28) showed that he is capable of fetching some crucial runs. He held on one end firmly and received assistance from Mohammed Siraj to add vital 38 runs for the last wicket to give India a 95-run lead. As India’s batting innings ended, Anderson had four wickets under his belt whereas Ollie Robinson got the chance to flaunt the red cherry while marching back to the pavilion.
Here is how Twitter reacted to day three of the England-India Tests
Anyone ever notice how much Bumrah’s wrist locks and the palm of his bowling hand gets parallel to the sky just before the bowling arm gets to its high point?

An enthralling Test Match #ENGvIND and a "five-for" for Ollie Robinson who looks a Josh Hazlewood in the making with good pace and control. @imjadeja such a smart-thinking cricketer for @BCCI #GameOn #AdvantageIndia

Formidable lead for #TeamIndia after some important runs added by the tail.
It’ll be interesting to see how England respond after being behind.
By the way, @Jaspritbumrah93 just played the shot of his life today. 😀#ENGvIND

18 years of hunger and relentless pursuit of excellence at the top level. For any bowler it is a special effort, but for a fast bowler it is extra special.
Many congratulations to James Anderson on becoming the 3rd highest wicket taker of all time . Richly deserved. pic.twitter.com/2Ot6FYydcg— VVS Laxman (@VVSLaxman281) August 6, 2021

Veteran Stuart Broad and young all-rounder Sam Curran didn’t get any success with the ball during their bowling show in 1st innings. Keeping in line with the English conditions, the rain was expected to play a spoilsport at any moment and that is exactly what happened towards the end. After India got a decent lead, England openers walked up the field and before much action could unfold, rain hit the game big time.
Rory Burns and Dom Sibley added 11 and 9 runs respectively from their ends before the end of the day’s play. England’s scoreboard read 25 runs without loss while Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah had already picked up their pace attacks.
