Twitter Reactions: RCB trolled for using RTM card for Pawan Negi
Twitterati made a mockery of this pick and didn't spare a chance to troll RCB.
Pawan Negi made some headlines when he was picked by the Delhi Daredevils Rs 8.50 crores in 2016 making him the costliest bowler back then. He also was ahead of stalwarts like Yuvraj Singh back then. He did very well for the CSK in 2015 having the teams go big at him in 2016. However, he was utterly disappointing for the Delhi Daredevils.
Negi was also picked in the ICC T20 World Cup squad in 2016. In 2017, Negi was brought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 1 crore. He had a didn’t have a great season for them in 2017. The Challengers ended up last on the points table and it was a very disappointing season for them.
RTM used for Pawan Negi, fans shocked
Pawan Negi only averages 17.65 with the bat. Also, he picked only 30 wickets in the 41 matches that he played so far. It was very much evident that he might not attract big bids. Some also expected him to go unsold in the auction. However, in a surprising turn of events, RCB decided to use their RTM card for him.
Negi only picked 16 wickets at an economy of 6.19 in the last season. Also, the 24-year-old left arm spinner reduced his base price to Rs 50 lakhs this time. In today’s auction, his bid went up to Rs 1 crore. The Mumbai Indians acquired him at that price. But, RCB decided to use their RTM and get him back. RCB made some interesting retentions this year keeping back both Sarfraz Khan and Negi.
Negi hasn’t been impressive with the bat or the ball in the recent times. He is currently struggling with his form factor. Putting all these factors aside, the RCB looked satisfied with the buy. They also tweet about him and said that he can bat, bowl and throw left-handed. They added that RCB witnessed him doing very well for them in the past. Here is their tweet:
