The match between Dhaka Dynamites and Chittagong Vikings at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium wasn’t an overly high-scoring one, but it wasn’t short of entertainment. The encounter went right down to the wire and in the end, the Vikings, led by Mushfiqur Rahim, managed to win by three wickets. They also equal the Dynamites with 10 points from six matches in this Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Vikings restrict Dynamites’ batsmen

The Dynamites won the toss and opted to bat and it didn’t quite work out well as the Vikings’ bowlers allowed them to score only 139 for nine in 20 overs. Robbie Frylinck, who missed the last match, nipped out both the opening batsmen- Rony Talukdar and the experienced Sunil Narine. Heino Kuhn, playing his first encounter in this BPL, promised with three fours and he fell prey to fast bowler Abu Jayed.

The speedster pinned Darwish Rasooli for a three-ball duck. Shakib Al Hasan tried his heart out with a run-a-ball 34, but part-timer Cameron Delport picked him up. Nurul Hasan flung the bat to notch 27 from 18 with five fours. However, it was a cameo of 29 from 15 balls from Shuvagata Hom that propelled the Dynamites’ score. Delport was the Vikings’ most successful bowler with three important wickets.

Frylinck comes to the party

The hulk-like Andre Russell got rid of the dangerous Mohammad Shahzad in the very first over. Nevertheless, the left-handed Cameron Delport came out all guns blazing and notched 30 runs from 14 balls with four boundaries and a couple of sixes before perishing to the wily Shakib Al Hasan. Yasir Ali was the third batsman to be dismissed. Shakib got his second wicket in the form of Dasun Shanaka.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain scored 22 and 33 respectively to keep the scoreboard ticking. Shakib picked up his fourth wicket, dismissing Nayeem Hasan, who went for an outrageous reverse-sweep. In the last over, the Vikings needed 16 runs and Robbie Frylinck, scored a 10-ball 26 to take his team home. The South African smacked three sixes off Mohor Sheikh too seal the fate of the match.
