Twitter Reactions: Rohit Sharma powers India in the chase of 199 to win the series 2-1
Rohit stayed unbeaten on 100 as the team got home with 7 wickets in hand.
The final T20I of the series in Bristol was a high-scoring affair, one that the fans were waiting for right through the series. Both India and England had one win in their account and wanted to get their hands on the trophy. England set them a target of 199 and when India walked out to chase it was just the matter of time. Rohit Sharma scored a hundred and they got home with 7 wickets and 8 balls to spare.
Virat Kohli asked Eoin Morgan’s men to bat first and Jason Roy along with Jos Buttler walked out to open the innings. They got the team off to a flying start. Almost every ball that hit the middle of the bat went to the boundary and even the top edges found the ropes. Roy hit the ball down the ground on several occasions and tried to pull everything that was short of the length.
India made two changes and brought pacers Deepak Chahar and Siddarth Kaul in the XI for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav. Chahar was making his debut while Kaul is featuring in his second T20I. It was the debutant who broke the opening stand worth 94 and Kaul then sent back Roy for 67.
England after an amazing start lost their way in the middle as the Indian bowlers made a really good comeback. The biggest example of how well they pulled things back was Hardik Pandya’s spell. The medium pacer spent 22 runs in his first over, the most he has ever been hit for 22 in an over but concluded his spell with figures of 4/38. He dismissed all the big guns and England posted an under-par total on the board.
For Indi,a it was a matter of just spending enough time in the middle. The ball was not doing anything and both the pacers or the spinners had nothing in it for them. Shikhar Dhawan once again missed out but Rohit was not going to let this go. On the easiest of the batting wickets, he will get on this tour the opener capitalized.
He anchored the innings with the likes of KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya hitting around him. Rohit in the end got to his 3rd T20I hundred with a stroke-filled knock. He got as many as 11 boundaries and five sixes. Pandya’s 14-ball 33 helped India close the game in double quick time and thus they won their first T20I series on English soil.
