Twitter Reactions: Sensational Sunrisers restrict Royals to 125 in Hyderabad
The Sunrisers bowlers dictated terms in the innings.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals gave their first look in the 2018 edition of the IPL at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Coming into the game, both teams had endured similar problems. They had lost their captains, David Warner and Steve Smith, owing to the involvement in an infamous recent scandal. The teams, however, had regrouped and promised to come out all guns blazing in the season.
As the things panned out in the first half of the game, only one side has shown some serious mettle on the field. The Sunrisers Hyderabad made an absolute mockery of the Rajasthan Royals batting lineup on the day. None of the Royals big names made a mark on the day and the SRH bowlers kept dictating terms on the day. It will be worth watching how the SRH batsmen fare up on the same track in the second half.
Coming to the game, the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first. They fielded Kane Williamson, Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan, and Billy Stanlake as their four overseas players. On the other hand, the Royals played with D Arcy Short, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Ben Laughlin as their overseas quartet.
The Royals struggled to get a good start with Short being run out on 4 in the very first over of the game. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane (13) also could not get going for too long. The big gun, Ben Stokes, became the victim of Billy Stanlake, who was absolute hostile on the day. Stokes perished with a score of 5. As the wickets fell from one end, Sanju Samson held the fort from the other.
He got some brief support from Rahul Tripathi (17) before the ship fell apart for the visitors. The Royals lost 3 middle-order wickets for in the space of 11 deliveries. Samson was also one among those three getting dismissed. He perished for 49 to his name in 42 balls with five fours to his name. The wickets kept tumbling and Rajasthan Royals could only put on 125/9 in their 20 overs. Siddarth Kaul and Shakib Al Hasan bagged two wickets each for the hosts.
