Twitter Reactions: Shikhar Dhawan’s poor form in Caribbean continues
He managed only two before being sent back by Sheldon Cottrell.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan’s woeful run of form with the bat in the Caribbeans continued on Sunday. The left-handed batsman made a comeback to the team through the ongoing tour after a thumb injury ended his World Cup campaign prematurely. Dhawan had sustained the injury in the game against Australia and was consequently ruled out. In the same game, he had also scored a stunning century.
However, his former after recovering from the injury has not been up to the mark. Dhawan had the chance to hit the ground running when he was named in the T20I and ODI squad for the West Indies series. However, the Delhi star has failed to do well so far. In the three T20I innings, he managed to score 1, 23 and 3. Fortunately, Dhawan’s form did not hurt India much as they went on to whitewash the West Indies.
But Dhawan’s form was definitely a major area of concern although skipper Virat Kohli had tried to downplay it. Speaking at the end of the third T20I, Kohli had said that Dhawan’s poor displays in the T20Is were not a sign of concern for Team India. Kohli had also said that Dhawan would do well in the ODIs since the format will give him more time.
“Not really, he is a very experienced player and as I said T20 cricket we don’t really look much into how guys are playing and form and stuff like that because you need to get on with the game and you’ll get out at some stage,” Kohli had said.
“50-over Cricket gives you a bit more time to get into your innings. I think once he gets a bit of time in the middle, we know the skill set he has and the way he can bat. So, not concerned at all,” added Kohli.

Well, the ODIs did not make any difference for Dhawan either as he failed to get going in the ongoing second game. He managed only two before being sent back by Sheldon Cottrell.
