Shubman Gill has been plundering runs after being left out of the Indian team for the West Indies tour. He himself expressed his disappointment after the squads were announced and is now making it extremely hard for the selectors to ignore him. He is currently the part of the India A team which is playing the second four-day game against the Windies A and the visitors are doing extremely well on the tour.
India A won the five-match unofficial ODI series by 4-1 in which Shubman Gill won the Man of the Series award. He amassed 218 runs in four innings of the series and the form has continued for him in the longer format as well. India A has won the first two matches of the series and is looking good to seal the third game as well going into the final day courtesy Shubman Gill and the skipper Hanuma Vihari.
After eking out a small 7-run lead in the first innings, the tourists were struggling at 50/4 in the second innings and this is when the duo came together. Both played aggressive cricket to effect an amazing turnaround and added an unbeaten 315 runs for the fifth wicket stand.
Gill plunders runs yet again
Shubman Gill was at his best on the day and more than made up for the golden duck in the first innings. He was attacking right through his innings and played all textbook strokes during his heroic stay in the middle. Vihari provided ideal support to Gill and kept going from strength to strength as overs passed by. West Indies bowlers couldn’t pick their wicket for the whole day and they duly completed their centuries.
Rather, by the time, Vihari reached his ton, Gill was close to the double-century mark and got to the milestone to remain unbeaten on 204 off only 250 balls. He smacked 19 classic fours and a couple of sixes in his innings as India A declared soon after on 365/4 after 90 overs. Hanuma Vihari too didn’t get out and scored 118 runs and his knock was laced with 12 fours and a six.
Twitterati, meanwhile, is chuffed looking at the way Shubman Gill is batting and lauded the youngster for consistently plundering runs at the India A level.

But selectors will keep picking the likes of Kedar Jadhav ahead of Shubman Gill https://t.co/kOf33RTnMF

.@RealShubmanGill is constantly reminding the selectors why he should be part of the senior team and not the A team. Performances speak for a batsman and in this case speaking out real loud.

Doesn’t really matter if we keep an eye on him. It would be better if the selectors keep an eye on him, which they really don’t do in case of Shubman Gill.

At the CEAT awards, Shubman Gill had told me that he wanted to do well at India A level and he’s done really well!

Shubman Gill came in to bat after scoring a golden duck in the 1st innings with India A at 14/2, soon it became 14/3.
Gill serenely struck a 250 ball 204* .
It takes immense skill to deliver such a knock.
India is missing a trick by not opting for him .#WIAvINDA #Gill
