Twitter Reactions: Smriti Mandhana stormy hundred helps Western Storm storm to a 7-wicket win

Smriti Mandhana has been in the form of her life representing Western Storm in the ongoing Women’s Cricket Super League in England. She kicked-off her journey in the league with a quick-fire 48 and that set the tone for all the remaining matches as well. In her third outing, the left-hander scored the fastest fifty in the history of the tournament as she got past the mark in just 18 balls.
In the 15th match of the KSL, and Storm’s return fixture against Lancashire Thunder she scored her maiden hundred also the first in this edition of the league. This is overall the third hundred in the history of the tournament and the Indian now has the record of being the fastest among the three.
This time around in a chase of 153, Mandhana helped her side to a rather easy win with 7 wickets in hand. With this victory, Storm also made their way to the top of the league as all the six teams have played five matches each. The left-hander has thus far scored 282 runs in five innings and has an average of 56.
Lancashire batting first were helped to a decent enough total by their No.3 AE Satterthwaite who is also a left-hand bat. She scored 85 from 57 balls and stayed unbeaten to power her team to 153 in 20 overs as no other batter managed to score even 20 runs.
Mandhana lost her partner Priest pretty early in the second inning of the game as she was out caught for just 5 runs in the first over. The Indian continued to play in her own zone and dictate terms on the opposition. No Thunder bowler could tame her and the proceedings were moving swiftly in favour of Storm.
She got to her half century and continued to go strong. The southpaw hit boundaries at will and as many as 12 balls reached the ropes during her knock while four travelled over it. Her stay at the crease was for 61 balls which is half the overs allotted to her team and Mandhana made the best of it scoring 102 runs with a strike rate of 167. She accounted for almost 75% runs that her team scored and got them over the line quite comfortably with 5 balls to spare.
