Twitter Reactions: Virat Kohli wrecks havoc in the Sri Lankan camp to bring up his 29th international hundred
It took just 76 balls for Virat Kohli to reach the hundred run mark.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli proved his mettle once again as the aggressive customer stormed to his second Test century of the tour. The exquisite stroke player monster-handled the Sri Lankan bowling line up as he brought up his 29th century in One Day Internationals. His 7th against Sri Lanka, Virat’s hundred today at the Premadasa was defined by sheer class and perfection.
Sri Lanka struck early as Vishwa Fernando removed danger man Shikhar Dhawan who has been scintillating form in the series. However, that paved the way for Virat Kohli to step up with the willow and the captain nailed it in style. Kohli made his intentions clear from the very beginning and it did not take him long to go past Rohit Sharma’s score. Rohit was happy to be a spectator from the other end as Virat Kohli dominated the proceedings.
Surpasses Sanath Jayasuriya:
It took just 76 balls for Virat Kohli to reach the hundred run mark. The Delhi-born star gave us a demonstration of his surreal talent once again as he hammered 14 boundaries and a towering maximum in the process. Virat Kohli surpassed Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of 28 One Day International hundred and is now the third in the most centuries list. Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most centuries in ODIs with a colossal 49 tons to his name while former Aussie international Ricky Ponting sits at the second spot with 30.
While it’s just a matter of time when Virat Kohli goes past Ponting it will take some hard work to equal the benchmark set by the Master Blaster. But it can be safely concluded that if there is someone who can give Tendulkar’s record a major scare, it is none other than Virat Kohli.
Here is how the Twitterati reacted to yet another splendid knock from the number 18:
