Shankar defended 11 runs in the last over.
The second ODI between Australia and India in Nagpur was won by the latter by eight runs. The game turned out to be an absolute cliffhanger as it went right down to the wire. It was all about nerves and in the end, the Indians held their nerve. Subsequently, they took a crucial 2-0 lead in the five-match series. With the triumph, India also continued winning streak against the Aussies in Nagpur.
Kohli dominates once again

An out-of-form Shikhar Dhawan scored 21, but Glenn Maxwell trapped him in front. Ambati Rayudu looked promising for his 18 and he fell prey to Nathan Lyon. Thereafter, Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar took the onus upon themselves.

The Aussies started the run-chase impressively as Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja cobbled together an opening stand of 83 runs from 87 balls. Finch found his touch back, having scored 37 patient runs before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. Khawaja was fluent and he racked up 38 runs with six boundaries. Shaun Marsh, on his comeback spree, could only churn out 16 runs from 27 balls.
Maxwell looked scratchy and he was cleaned up by Kuldeep. Nevertheless, Peter Handscomb injected momentum into the innings with 48 runs, after which a brilliant throw from Jadeja got rid of him. Kuldeep nipped out Alex Carey for 22 runs. Stoinis put on an incredible half-century, but he got out to Vijay Shankar in the last over.
