Match 29 of the Caribbean Premier League saw the Barbados Tridents go head to head against the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Kensington Oval, Barbados. In a low scoring encounter, the Barbados Tridents defeated the in form Trinbago side by 16 runs. However, the Dwayne Bravo led Knight Riders maintained their top spot while Barbados stay in the lower half of the table.

The visiting side won the toss and opted to bowl first. Coming on to bat first, the Barbados Tridents’ top order was rattled by the Trinbago bowlers early in the innings. Big guns like Dwayne Smith, Kane Williamson and Eoin Morgan departed for scores under 10 leaving the Trinbago side on the driving seat. Skipper Kieron Pollard got a start but failed to make it count for his team. However, West Indian Shamar Springer combined with big South African Wayne Parnell which saw the Barbados side start their revival act. Parnel was brilliant with the willow in hand as he scored 44 runs off just 35 balls.

However, West Indian Shamar Springer combined with big South African Wayne Parnell which saw the Barbados side start their revival act. Parnel was brilliant with the willow in hand as he scored 44 runs off just 35 balls. Parnell’s gutsy effort consisted of 3 boundaries and a towering maximum. Young Pakistani Shadab Khan bagged 2 wickets for the Knight Riders which was the highest among the bowlers.

The run chase:

The Trinbago run chase definitely did not go according to plan. After a stormy start from Brendon McCullum, no other batsman could resurrect the Trinbago innings after the departure of the dangerous Kiwi. McCullum scored 26 runs off 19 balls at the top of the order while opener Sunil Narine, Colin Munro and Darren Bravo were dismissed cheaply. Skipper Dwayne Bravo tried to step up with his share of 22 runs but could not stay till the end to guide his team to victory. Another notable contribution came from Javon Searles low down the order as he played a 29 run knock but unfortunately without any outcome.

The Trinbago Knight Riders were bundled out for a score of 120 in 18.2 overs with Wayne Parnell wrecking havoc with the ball. Parnell picked up 3 wickets to his name and was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding all round show. Here is how the Twitterati reacted to the Barbados win:
