The wise old spin operator of Pakistan, Yasir Shah, was at his very best yet again. The West Indies seemed to have found some stern resistance with their middle order dictating terms for the majority part of the penultimate day. Shai Hope played the innings of substance as he guided the hosts past safety on the day 4 of the second Test at Barbados.

Other batsmen, Roston Chase, Kraigg Brathwaite, and Vishaul Singh in particular, played around Hope’s magnificent 90 to ensure that the West Indies innings did not crash down like ten pins. The day saw some exciting brand of Test cricket with both the teams having their moments of glory. However, the ultimate glory seemed to have belonged to the visitors’ corner.

It was a six-wicket haul from Yasir Shah that dented the spirited comeback of the West Indies innings on the day. Yasir returned with figures of 6/90 to ensure that the lead taken by the hosts was restricted to just 183 by the end of the day. Also, his efforts saw the Windies stutter at 264/9 by the end of the day’s play. After a day that saw Windies batters calling the shots, as many as 6 wickets fell in the final session of play.

Earlier in the day, West Indies resumed their innings from the overnight score of 40/1. Brathwaite played a good knock of 43 before becoming the first scalp for Yasir Shah on the day. Roston Chase (23) and Vishaul Singh (32) played handy cameos to support Shai Hope at the other end. Hope went past his fifty and looked solid for more.

The young batsman was unfortunate to have missed out on a well-deserved ton by just 10 runs. Yasir ran through the lower middle-order of the West Indies lineup to finish with a six-wicket haul to his name. For the series to stay alive, the Windies will have to come up with a herculean performance on the final day play.

Here is how the Twitter reacted to the day 4 play between West Indies and Pakistan:
