The 2nd Test between India and South Africa is underway at the Supersport Park in Centurion. Team India will be trying to win this match at all cost since they are 0-1 down in the series. Going into this Test match, Indian captain Virat Kohli made some interesting changes to the eleven.

It was an absolute no-brainer that KL Rahul climbed his way back into the team in place of a struggling Shikhar Dhawan. Also, gloveman Wriddhiman Saha couldn’t feature in the XI due to a hamstring niggle. Virat made it clear that he didn’t want to take a chance with his first-choice wicketkeeper. In that case, Parthiv Patel takes the keeping gloves and thus is playing his first Test outside Asia since 2004.

The most unexpected change of all was benching Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He was the biggest contributor with the ball in the first Test and gave the Proteas three early blows that dented their inning. Not just that he had a key role to play for the team with the bat giving Hardik Pandya just the kind of support he needed in the first inning. Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma whom Kohli backs to extract some extra bounce from the kind of surface walked in for Bhuvi who has been termed a conditions specific bowler by the team.

While a majority expected the first change in the opening slot, there were speculations that Parthiv will start ahead of Saha given the way the two had trained in the nets on days leading into the game. Nobody expected the team management to drop Bhuvi who led the charge with the ball for Team India in both the innings. Ishant though is a very able and experienced seamer is a completely different class of bowler.

Twitterati wasn’t pleased on learning that the one who performed to the best of his ability with both bat and ball was kept out of the side.
