Mohammed Siraj was handed over his ODI debut against Australia in the second game at the Adelaide Oval. He replaced the left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed in the line-up who looked stiff and was also ordinary with the ball in the series opener. However, Siraj like his first T20I, endured a poor outing in the field, conceding 76 runs in his 10 overs and also went wicketless during his spell.

He was the first change bowler for the Men in Blue and was straightaway attacked by the home side. The likes of Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh were all over Siraj as the debutant was too short. Whenever the pacer pitched the ball up, he was threatening but may be Siraj was too nervous on his debut and looked under-cooked. After a poor first spell, Kohli opted for spin from both the ends and held him back for the death overs.

Decent comeback

Mohammed Siraj was brought back for two spells later in the innings by the captain but to no avail. In his second spell, Marsh, who was set, took the toll on him while Glenn Maxwell also smashed him for sixes and a plethora of fours. However, it seemed that he was bowling with a plan in the death overs.

He kept it wide from the batsmen and executed it really well. But with the batsmen in the mood to smother the white ball, Maxwell launched him into the stands to pile on the agony. A few decent deliveries showed that the 24-year-old was trying hard to get it right. One of his slower deliveries also led to the umpire giving Maxwell out leg-before.

However, it wasn’t his day at the Adelaide Oval. The batsman reviewed the decision and the ball was going down the leg-side. Siraj ended with dismal figures of 0/76 in his ten overs and had a forgettable debut. Nevertheless, it must’ve been a good learning curve for him. Meanwhile, Twitter trolled him hilariously for a poor outing in the second ODI.
