The cricketing world has been a witness to a number of weird bowling actions, which has caught everyone by surprise. From Paul Adams, Lasith Malinga to Sohail Tanvir, the bowlers don’t leave any stone unturned in churning out something new every time. A bowler is generally advised to resort to an uncomplicated bowling lineup as it enables them to keep their shape while delivering the ball.

Nevertheless, some bowlers find the awkward actions as their comfort zone and try to unleash them. Indian cricket has had a couple of bowlers who are known for their bizarre actions, Jasprit Bumrah and Kedar Jadhav are a couple of them. The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently taking place and another uncanny bowling action has emerged from the blues.

The abnormal bowling action by Manoj Tiwary

Out of all the bowlers, it was Manoj Tiwary, who grabbed the limelight when he came out to bowl. He used to be an effective leg spinner earlier in his career. However, he has been seen bowling off-breaks for Punjab during the game between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The action was similar to the one by Kedar Jadhav, where the ball is released from around stump-height. However, Tiwary’s action seemed to an exaggerated version of the one by Jadhav. At the time of releasing the ball, he crouched as much as he could, bowled a round-arm delivery, which was released almost below stump height. To be precise, the point of release was lower than that of Lasith Malinga.

He bowled only a solitary over in which he conceded 10 runs. Most importantly, from being a leggie, Tiwary has suddenly become a peculiar looking off-break bowler. It will now be interesting to see whether he will be able to churn out wickets with his revamped action or not.
