India’s stylish opening batsman KL Rahul may not have been having a good time with the bat in the ongoing Test series in South Africa. But the aggressive opener was among the staggering buys at the IPL auctions 2018. Many franchises were involved in intense bidding battles for the charismatic Indian batsman. Eventually, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab for a whopping price of 11 crores and included another capped Indian player in their ranks.

Rahul has the form by his side

Rahul featured for the national team in the T20I series against Sri Lanka in 2017, where he was the highest scorer in the series with 153 runs, that included two crucial half-centuries. With the form favouring Rahul, he surely will look to perform impressively and be the match-winner for his new IPL franchise.

He played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the past, where has played some incredible knocks, especially for the latter IPL franchise. For RCB, Rahul featured in the middle-order and with star players like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers already worrying the oppositions, he also stole the show for many times in the previous two seasons.

IPL numbers

The Karnataka star batsman has played 39 matches in which he has scored 725 runs, that includes four fifty-plus scores. But the fact is, his numbers surely don’t go in hand with his enormous talent and abilities to strike the ball from the very first ball with an explosive strike rate. He is also one of the three Indian players along with Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina, to score hundreds in all three formats of the game in international cricket.

KXIP very eager to build their team

KXIP have been doing wonders and have looked as the keenest franchises at the auctions so far looking to build their team with some key players. Along with Rahul, they have also bought off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, openers Karun Nair and Aaron Finch, for their 2018 journey.
