After trying his luck on quite a few occasions and working his heart out, Yuvraj Singh finally cleared the Yo-Yo Test. But the Chairman of the selection committee MSK Prasad has feels that Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina haven’t played enough cricket recently. This might be one of the primary reason behind them getting not selected in the squad for the South Africa series which was announced just a while ago.

But that as one would expect didn’t go down well with the cricketing fraternity on social media. Yuvraj Singh has been one of the finest middle order batsmen of all time and something similar can be said about Suresh Raina, who is touted as one of the most creative and dependable players in the country.

MSK Prasad was accompanied by BCCI’s Acting Secretary Mr Amitabh Choudhary and a lot of youngsters have been handed a crucial opportunity for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. This might be another reason behind the fans fuming on Twitter, expressing their displeasure over the selectors prioritizing youngsters over the seniors.

Thampi, Hooda and Sundar get a maiden call

The Indian side will be planting a very young and inexperienced squad on the field in the T20I series against the Lankans. But no one can disregard the ability of these cricketers, who rose to fame in the IPL. Youngsters like Basil Thampi, Deepak Hooda, and Washington Sundar got a maiden call from the National selectors, a moment they will cherish for a long time.

Jaydev Unadkat too was recalled after a long time. Most of the fans on Twitter kept arguing, if this was a series of experimentation, then why were Yuvraj and Raina ignored. MSK Prasad had his set of reasons to explain and justify the selection, but that ain’t satisfying people.

“Yuvraj had fitness issues. Am happy he has cleared those now. He hasn’t played much so we are going to wait and see once he has had some game time,” quoted Prasad.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to this decision from the selectors.
