It was expected that the English players was going to benefit from their recent performances in India and boy, didn’t they make it big. Ben Stokes was a certainty to make millions and it’s no surprise that he ended up the most expensive player of this year’s auction. Tymal Mills, the 24-year-old, bald left-armer, is in effect a like-to-like replacement for Mitchel Starc, who opted to sit out of the IPL to balance the workload.

However, Mills should be a wearing a gleeful smile right now having bagged Rs 12 crore deal from the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the second biggest after Stokes’ – Rs 14.5 crore. Mills has only played 4 International T20s but has a reputation to be a crafty bowler in the T20 circuit. He managed to keep the hard-hitting Indians mostly at bay in the recent India series, and captain Virat Kohli clearly took note of him.

Mills had the opportunity to play at the Chinnaswamy, RCB’s home ground in the recent T20 series and is more than happy that he doesn’t have to bowl against the star-studded batting line-up of Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Shane Watson.

A visibly happy Mills, who will share the dressing room with the current batting dynamites of the world was quoted saying, “It is going to be nice that I don’t have to bowl to them and that’s always a plus. You want to play with and against the best players in the world and am glad I am going to do that with RCB”.

As for the lucrative deal, Mills was said he won’t worry much about the fat pay cheque, but rather stick to focussing at his game and enjoying the game. He is likely to be a permanent fixture in the RCB line-up which no longer has the services of Mitchel Starc.
