U19 Asia Cup 2021: Day 1 Round Up
3 matches were held on Day 1 of the U19 Asia Cup.
The U19 Asia Cup commenced today, and as many as 3 matches were held on Day 1. In the first match, the India U19 side hammered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) U19 outfit by a whopping margin of 154 runs.
Next up, the Pakistan U19 side beat Afghanistan U19 comfortably by 4 wickets. The third match was also a one-sided contest, with the Sri Lanka U19 side absolutely decimating the Kuwait U19 side by 274 runs.
India U19 decimate UAE U19 by 154 runs
In the first match of the day, the India U19 side posted a total of 282/5, with Harnoor Singh scoring a superb 130-ball 120. Apart from Singh, skipper Yash Dhull also scored a classy 63 as well. In reply, the UAE U19 side was bowled out for a paltry total of 128. Apart from Kai Smith, who scored 45, not even a single batter could cross the 30-run mark.
Pakistan U19 beat Afghanistan U19 by 4 wickets
Next up, in the game between Afghanistan U19 and Pakistan U19, the Afghanistan side wielded the willow first and was bowled out for just 52. Right arm pacer Ahmad Khan ran through the Afghanistan batting lineup, and scalped 3 wickets. The Pakistan side chased down the target with 4 wickets to spare.
Sri Lanka U19 pummel Kuwait U19 by 274 runs
In the final game of the day, the Sri Lanka U19 side made merry at the expense of the Kuwait U19 side. Batting first, the Sri Lankan U19 side posted a mammoth total of 323/5, with Pawan Pathiraja top-scoring with a 72-ball 86.
The Kuwait U19 innings lasted just 17.3 overs, as they were bowled out for just 49. Such was the dismal performance of the Kuwait side that just 2 batters scored in double figures. Skipper Dunith Wellalage scalped a 4-wicket haul for Sri Lanka.
