Umar Akmal, the Pakistan top-order batsman was once a star player of his side and was very consistent with the willow when it comes to scoring runs, but it seems that his bat has stopped making runs for him that has led him to face humiliation and criticism of his fans.

Akmal made his comeback for his T20I national side after 2016, but his horrific form is not leaving him aside. When the 29-year-old was selected in the squad his fans cheered the step taken by the selectors but who knew that he will get out on a golden duck in both the matches he played that led him to register an unwanted record on his name that no player wants to have.

In both the games of this series, the 29-year-old player was dismissed on the very first delivery. In 1st T20I he gave away his wicket to Sri Lanka‘s pacer Nuvan Pradeep whereas in 2nd match of the series it was the leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga who took the wicket of the right-hand batter.

Akmal registers an unwanted record on his name

As soon as Umar Akmal headed towards the pavilion after scoring a duck in the 2nd T20I, he equaled the record of most ducks by any player in T20Is alongside former Sri Lankan star Tillakaratne Dilshan. On the other hand, Akmal has also left Chris Gayle behind who had 26 ducks in order to become a batsman with most T20 ducks in his career. Now, he is on 2nd position with 27 ducks whereas Dwayne Smith is leading the chart of unwanted record with 28 T20 ducks.

Akmal registered the sixth golden duck of his T20I career that takes him to stand next to the former Pakistan all-rounder who is standing on the top in the list of golden duck scored by any batsman in T20Is.

In the three-match T20I series against Islanders, it was not only Akmal, who performed bad but the whole team has let its fans down in every department. Currently, Pakistan is standing on the number one position of T20I ranking but their performance against the second-string team of Sri Lanka never justified their current position in the table.
