Used to wear shoes of other people, says Ravindra Jadeja
Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has now become a household name in the country. His recent heroics in the Chennai Test only added to his ever increasing popularity. Jadeja stayed back in Chennai to attend a media event. He was named the brand ambassador of the sportswear company ‘Zeven’. Jadeja stole the show with his sense of humor at the event.
As per the reports in India.com, the media men tried their best to get some cricket news out of him but in vain. Jadeja dead batted a few questions and came up with witty replies. The crowd was thoroughly entertained. One of the reporters asked him to comment on India’s recent series win over England. Jadeja said that the series was in past now and requested the media to ask questions pertaining to the brand.
“The series is over. It is in the past now. Let us focus on today and talk about why I am here,” Jadeja quoted. Another media man asked him to disclose his earnings. he was spot on in asking back the reporter his salary. “What is your salary, can you tell me?” mocked the all-rounder.
The Saurashtra lad then spoke about wearing customised sports gear. He affirmed that it surely helps. However, he disclosed that there was a time when he had to wear shoes of other people. All he did was try and get shoes somehow.
“Yes. Before I played international cricket, I would wear other people’s shoes. Kaheen se bhi jugaad ho jaye (I had to find a solution and adjust in any way possible),” he said and the crowd erupted in laughter.
Lastly, he did speak a little about cricket. He remarked that the team is high on confidence and is keen on doing well in overseas conditions. “The players have the confidence to perform in any part of the world, not just in India. We recently won an away Test series in the West Indies. We’re ready for any challenge,” he conceded.
