Usman Qadir caught for over-speeding in Perth

The 25-year-old Qadir is set to be summoned by the court.

Western Australia leg-break bowler Usman Qadir has found himself in trouble for over-speeding the 50kph limit in East Perth. The son of the legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, got himself tangled in the controversy on Monday. The Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) released a statement and said that it was aware of the incident.

Moreover, the statement mentioned that the WACA would take the appropriate measures and would cooperate with the police on the grave matter. The 25-year-old Qadir is set to be summoned by the court in relation to the unfortunate occurring.

Trouble for Usman Qadir

“We are extremely disappointed that this has occurred. The WACA takes road safety very seriously and we understand that speeding is a key contributor to accidents on our roads. We expect all our players and staff to drive responsibly and our players know their behaviour has an impact on the community as role models,” Christina Matthews, the WACA chief executive, was quoted as saying in WAtoday.

As per the driving rules in Western Australia, if anyone is found driving above the speed limit, then that person would be slapped with a hefty penalty of AUD 1200 and the cricketer would be handed seven demerit points. Moreover, that person will also lose their license for 12 months.

Recently, Qadir expressed his desire to play for Australia in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. The youngster is presently plying his trade for Perth Scorchers in the eighth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). He has picked up six wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 8.45 with best figures of 1/25 against Aaron Finch-captained Melbourne Renegades in Perth.

The Lahore, Punjab-born leg-spinner has an experience of 10 first-class, 21 List A and 20 T20s in which he has notched 11, 21 and 17 wickets respectively. Qadir is no mug with the bat either he has a couple of half-centuries in the domestic circuit.
