Varun Aaron reveals the reason he decided to play County cricket
Currently, he is playing for Leicestershire in England County championships.
Indian speedster Varun Aaron was once tipped to be the next big thing in the Indian cricket. He had emerged as the fastest Indian bowler in the domestic circuit a few years ago but lost his plot after making it to the Indian side. Now, he feels rejuvenate and is gearing up for a second innings. Currently, he is playing for Leicestershire in England County championships.
He has had a very good season for the team thus far and was recently a key part of the team’s crucial win in the season. In a recent revelation, Varun Aaron revealed the reasons why he decided to play County cricket. He remarked that the motivation to play for the Indian team is the primary reason why he decided to have a stint in England. He wishes to hone his skills and become a better player.
“I am looking to play for India in near future and that’s what keeps me going, that’s what gives me the motivation every day in the morning to wake up and to put in those yards. I am sure it will come in my way,” Varun Aaron told India TV.
On his County stint and the English conditions
Commenting on his stint with Leics thus far in the season, Varun Aaron expressed his satisfaction about the outing. He noted that he has developed a lot of skills by playing there. Also, when asked about the changes he had to make to his game, he remarked that he is bowling a lot fuller in England.
“I had a really good camp of 20-25 days with these guys working on things I would need to do here. After getting here, assessing the conditions and changing my game accordingly like bowling more inswingers because it’s just the way the conditions are here and the batsmen play here… these are reasons for me doing well so far,” Aaron cited.
“The conditions here are a lot different to India, the pace, the bounce, the overhead conditions. So, I’ve been bowling a lot fuller than I would be doing in India,” he pointed out.
