Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017, Day 4 Roundup: Jharkhand find a new hero in today's win
In a close encounter at the Chepauk, Andhra edged past Goa by 3 runs on Day 4 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017. Goa came back strong after being reduced to 122/6 in 36 overs while chasing 229 runs. Kauthankar’s 83 helped them take the game down to the wire when 12 runs were needed from the last over where the tail-enders managed to get only 9 runs. Earlier, an 111-ball 115 from AG Pradeep helped Andhra post a respectable total.
Talking after the game, Pradeep said, “It was a good pitch to bat on compared to the wicket in the previous game which was damper. I paced my innings well to ensure we got a good total which turned out to be a very close one. I would like to dedicate my century to my newborn baby.”

Yuvraj Singh’s all-round performance set up a win for Punjab against Railways. Yuvraj had figures of 7-0-35-2 with the ball and later scored a 66-ball 66 with the bat and completed 12,000 runs in List A cricket. However, the 247-run chase was possible only due to Manpreet Gony and Gurkeerat’s 80-run unbeaten stand for the 8th wicket in just 47 balls.

After a couple of poor batting displays, Uttar Pradesh posted a mammoth total of 387/5 against Kerala with Akshdeep Nath scoring a brilliant 143 supported by Shivam Chaudhary and Eklavya Dwivedi who scored 63 and 75 respectively. Sarfaraz Khan scored a quick 22-ball 45 towards the end. Kerala in reply were bowled out for just 142 and lost the game by a huge margin of 245 runs, the 2nd largest defeat in terms of runs for any in List A cricket in India.

Chasing 271, no Tamil Nadu played a substantial knock and this cost them the game. Captain Indrajith top scored with a 49 before getting out in the 41st over, which sealed the game for Maharashtra.

The likes of young Rahul Chahar and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who took 3 wickets apiece inched the game till the penultimate over but Sudip Chatterjee’s unbeaten 85 guided his side to a 2-wicket win.
