Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017, Day 6 Round up: Aditya Tare, Akshdeep Nath lead their teams to big wins
Day 6 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017 saw Baroda featuring in the news, and on social media for a stellar show on the filed against Assam. Krunal Pandya’s mighty all-round performance of 72 off 101 balls with career-best figures of 4 for 20 helped Baroda cruise to a 92-run victory over Assam.
The Pathan brothers also contributed in the same with a 71 from Yusuf Pathan and a handy 50 from Irfan Pathan. Left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh also impressed with the ball, taking 3 for 37 as Assam were bowled out for 141 while chasing a total of 234.
Dhawal Kulkarni and Rohit Sharma made it to Mumbai’s Playing XI today. Rohit featured in his first game after a four-month injury lay-off. His outing was forgettable and failed to impress on his comeback as he was caught behind for 16 off 33 balls, it was a decent day for Mumbai. Aditya Tare’s 77 along with Siddhesh Lad’s 55 powered Mumbai to a 43-run win over Andhra. K Bharat remained Andhra’s best performer with the bat scoring 64 runs.
Vidarbha thumped Haryana with a 68-run victory at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi after Akshay Karnewar’s 4 for 29 and Akshay Wakhare’s 3 for 38 that left Haryana helpless at 169 in a chase of 238. Shivam Chauhan and Rajat Paliwalcame to Haryana’s rescue, but the rest of the batting didn’t cooperate.

Though Vidarbha had lost their openers early as well, with captain Faiz Fazal going back at a duck, Ganesh Satish’s 78 and Apoorv Wankhade’s 45-ball 64 helped the team to reach 237/9. Mohit Sharma, Sanjay Pahal, and Rahul Tewatia picked up two wickets each for Haryana but ended up in the losing cause.
Akshdeep Nath’s 109, his second List A hundred in three matches, carried Uttar Pradesh to a 6-wicket win over Himachal Pradesh in Bhubaneswar. Nath struck 17 fours and two sixes during his 90-ball stay. Rinku Singh and Sarfaraz Khan sealed the victory as Uttar Pradesh chased down 256 in 40.4 overs. Mayank Dagar contributed with a 46 of 33 balls to help Himachal Pradesh to 255 but Mohd Israr returned 4/33 while his senior partner Praveen Kumar claimed 2/40.
