Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Prithvi Shaw set to join team Mumbai

The U19 World Cup winning Indian skipper Prithvi Shaw is set to be back in action in the domestic circuit. Shaw is likely to join the Mumbai team for their fixture against Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018. The match will be played on February 8. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, the selectors had named him in the squad.

And now, as per the reports in Sportstarlive, Prithvi Shaw is in frame to play in the tournament. He reached Mumbai on February 5 after successfully leading the India U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup 2018. The Shaw-led Indian side beat Australia U19 by 8 wickets in the finals to clinch the title. Also, Shaw’s performances on the personal front were up to the mark.

He played decently across all the fixtures in the tournament. In the finals, he scored a key 29 runs in the run chase. In the tournament, he scored 261 runs with a top score of 94. Owing to his stellar show with the bat, Prithvi Shaw was also named in the Team of the Tournament of U19 World Cup 2018. Coming to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the return of Shaw will cause selection conundrums for the Mumbai team.

Either Jay Bista or Akhil Herwadkar will have to make way for the youngsters. Both batsmen have performed decently thus far in the competition. Talking about the performances, Mumbai won their first match of the tournament convincingly by beating Madhya Pradesh by 74 runs. They posted a mammoth score of 332 on board before bundling out the opposition for just 258.

In their next game against Gujarat, they again came up with a good batting display, posting 317 runs on the board. Their next match will be against Tamil Nadu. Following the game against TN< they will face Rajasthan, Goa, and Andhra Pradesh on February 9, Februray 12, and February 14 respectively.
