'Virat and Rohit are the only two seniors' - Yuvraj Singh feels there are very less role models in current Indian team

Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian all-rounder bid adieu to international cricket back in 2019. However, he got the honour to play alongside some of the big players like Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and many more.

Yuvraj is quite a vocal personality, who gives his opinion without any hesitation on social media platforms. Sometimes he has also faced the heat of the fans. Now, in a live interaction with Rohit Sharma, he said that there are not many role models to look up to in the current side.

Narendra Modi, the honourable Prime Minister announced lockdown in the country. Since then, the cricketers have become quite active on social media platforms. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener has also started spending ample amount of time on Instagram and Twitter. On Tuesday evening, he interacted with Yuvraj through Instagram live.

Yuvraj Singh opens up on what he doesn’t like in current Team India

On Tuesday, both the cricketers were involved in a live Instagram session. Meanwhile, the current Indian opener questioned Yuvraj about what he feels that current Team India lacks. To which Yuvraj said that the youngsters are expected to carry a specific kind of behaviour while they play for Team India.

Yuvraj threw a light on his career and said that when he arrived in the national team, the seniors were quite disciplined. Moreover, there were no certain distractions like social media. At that time, the players used to behave in a certain way because they were the ambassadors of the game as well as India.

“When I came into the team or when you (Rohit) came into the team, our seniors were very disciplined. Obviously there were no social media so there were no distractions. There was a certain behaviour that we boys had to carry, how they talk to people, how they talk to media. Because they were the ambassadors of the game and India,” Yuvraj told Rohit Sharma.

Yuvraj feels that the things have changed after the third generation players have arrived in the side. According to Yuvraj, there are very few senior players in the side and youngsters have got more liberty.

“So that is what I had told you guys. After playing for India, you have to be more careful about your image. But I feel the third generation. There are only you two seniors, Virat and you, who are playing all the formats, rest of the guys are coming and going. I just feel there are very fewer guys to look up to and I feel that a sense of respect towards seniors, that has become a thin line now. Koi bhee kisiko kuch bhee keh deta bhai,” Yuvraj added.
