Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni speak to CoA regarding players salary
It was largely based upon the number of matches they play and the compensation package.
The Committee of Administrators had a meeting on Thursday. Various players from the Indian cricket team including the likes of skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were present. The meeting was held in order to resolve and discuss matters such as player salary, Future tour programmes, etc.
Interacting with the media after the meeting, Chief of CoA, Vinod Rai disclosed the discussions that took place. It was largely based upon the number of matches they play and the compensation package. He further told that all the discussions had a positive outcome.
The discussions were fruitful
Giving clarity on the discussions that took place, Vinod Rai remarked that it bore fruit, “We had extensive discussion with the players and spoke to them on the number of matches they play, the Future Tour Programme (FTP) and compensation package etc. The discussions were fruitful,” Rai was quoted as saying by ANI.
Recently, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had raised his concerns over the intense schedule. This season has seen the team play some continuous cricket throughout the year. He and many other players had requested the BCCI to give rest for the same.
Rai further told that the high packed schedule of the Indian team was also one of the discussing points. Deeming the players right, he ensured that players will be given ample rest. He also spoke about the future tour programmes and the compensation package.
“On Future Tour Programme (FTP), we agree with them and will look into it so that they get enough rest. The principles of the compensation package will also be structured. We will now match the revenue with compensation that each player will receive,” he said.
It remains to be seen what measures would be undertaken following the meeting with the Indian cricketers. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been rested for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
