Virat Kohli and other Mumbai based players enter bio-bubble ahead of travel to England

India are set to travel to UK for the ICC World Test Championship final (WTC) to be played against New Zealand and a subsequent five Test-match series to be played against England. Ahead of the departure, the Indian Test team is undergoing quarantine in Mumbai in separate groups.

Apparently, the Mumbai-based players which includes skipper Virat Kohli have entered the bio-bubble on Monday and will only be able to see the rest of the squad members after completing their seven-day quarantine before jetting out on June 02.

The other squad members-barring those from Mumbai started their 14-day quarantine from May 19 with BCCI taking all safety precautions to ensure those who joined the bubble this week not face any issues. The BCCI have also provided the Mumbai-based players training equipment and have been instructed them to workout out indoors.

“Kohli and the rest of the members who entered the bubble on Monday will not straightaway mix with those who are already in the bubble. They will do a 7-day quarantine and then join the group before leaving for England. Till then, they will have all the necessary facilities in their rooms only,” source said according to News18.

“Arrangements have been made so that they can train in the room. Cycles, dumbbells, bars have all been arranged for in the rooms so that they doesn’t need to walk out and can stay in shape,” the source added.

Earlier the BCCI had stated that it will conduct daily tests for its players as it does not want to take any risks ahead of the marquee clash against New Zealand and a high profile Test series against England. BCCI have also arranged a second dose of the vaccine against Coronavirus for its players.

“The team has already taken the first dose here after the government opened the vaccination process for all above 18. The second dose will be administered by the UK health department once the players are eligible to get the second jab as per rule,” BCCI sources revealed.

After reaching UK, the players will again undergo mandatory 10-day quarantine before starting their preparations for the finale for the WTC that is scheduled to begin from June 18 in Southampton.
