Virat Kohli class apart from counterparts: Mohammad Hafeez
"He is technically superior."
India have produced a number of legendary cricketers over the years, one of them is Delhi-born Virat Kohli, who has grown leaps and bounds as his career has passed the test of times. The 30-year-old batter has flourished in all the three forms of international cricket. Moreover, the bearded beast is currently International Cricket Council’s (ICC) number one ranked batsman in Test and ODI cricket.
Virat recently became the fastest batsman to 10,000 ODI runs against Windies. He is currently in Australia for the four-match Test series against Australia, which his team is leading 1-0 after the victory at the popular Adelaide Oval. Albeit he couldn’t score big in the first contest, he remains to be a vital cog in their setup. Meanwhile, Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has heaped praises on the experienced campaigner.
“When I look at the current batsmen in the international arena, I do not think anyone can come close to Kohli. He is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of ability to score runs. He is technically superior and mentally very strong,” Hafeez was quoted as saying in Firstpost.
Hafeez talks about Test retirement
As far as Hafeez is concerned, he hung his boots from Test cricket earlier this month after Pakistan’s three-match series against New Zealand. After a pretty controversial time with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he made a comeback with a century against Australia, but he went into the slump from which he couldn’t get out. The Punjab-born all-rounder spoke about how he planned to bid goodbye to the longest format.
“I was planning to retire from Tests for the last few weeks and my decision was not based on my recent form. I had already sounded the Pakistan Cricket Board about my plans to retire from Tests. I felt the time was ripe for me to make an exit from the Test arena and give the youngsters in the team an opportunity to settle down,” he added.
