Virat Kohli & Co welcomes Anil Kumble to the team
Not long after Anil Kumble was appointed as the head coach for the Indian cricket team did the Tweets from those who mattered followed in. However, while the credentials and experience of the 45-year old is a subject of stern questioning, one thing Kumble certainly has is the support of the players. With a plethora of Test assignments to come in the near future, he certainly has the support of Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli.
Kohli’s tweet read: “Heartiest welcome to @anilkumble1074 Sir. Look forward to your tenure with us. Great things in store for Indian Cricket with you.” While Kumble has finally found himself with the backing of the Test skipper, it wasn’t long before the other Test players began to voice their support for the newly appointed Indian Head coach.
The 27-year old Kohli who currently serves as the captain in the longest format but is expected to take over from incumbent skipper MS Dhoni in the near future, a fact that has been reiterated by the press on several occasions. However, while most wait for the perfect timing of the transition, the Kohli-Kumble duo will have to work together in the following few months in order to reinforce India’s cricketing status in the world.
Kumble’s first assignment sees him joining up with the Indian side that will make their way to the Caribbean in July. The tour will comprise of 4 Test matches as well as 2 tour matches that will be played as a warm-up for the visiting Indians. However, at the moment, many current Indian stars have Tweeted their support for the newly appointed Indian coach.
