The recent fall out between the former Indian coach Anil Kumble and the Indian skipper Virat Kohli has certainly brought a bit of infamy for the latter. Many believe that Kohli is the main culprit behind Kumble’s abrupt exit. Anil Kumble stepped down as the coach of the national side recently. Later, he posted a note on the social media wherein he disclosed the reasons that led up to his decision of stepping down.

He remarked that the Indian captain had reservations over the approach that he had. Hence, he believed that it would be in the best interest of the team if he steps down since things were not well between him and Virat Kohli. Albeit Kohli always denied any such reports of rifts in the media, the note by Kumble has certainly made the speculations of the tussle seem true.

Now, another incident that perspired recently only brings the bitterness between the two gentlemen to the fore. Virat Kohli deleted the tweet that he had posted for Anil Kumble when the latter had taken over as the coach of the Indian cricket team. Kumble had assumed the coaching role in June last year. Back then, Kohli had tweeted, “Heartliest welcome to Anil Kumble Sir. Look forward to your tenure with us. Great things in store for Indian cricket with you.”

The tweet was pretty much there till last night but was deleted this morning. Certainly, all was not well between Kohli and Kumble.

Kumble’s spectacular run as India’s coach

Well, great things indeed perspired for team India during Kumble tenure as the head coach. India beat West Indies in the Test series which was Kumble’s first assignment as the coach. India then had a remarkable home season of Test cricket where they played 13 matches and lost just one.

Moreover, the team registered clinical wins in the ODI fixtures against New Zealand and England. They also managed to beat England in T20I series and most recently, they made it to the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.
