Ever since he made his foray into international cricket, Virat Kohli has been a Marquee figure in the cricket community. The Indian skipper has matured leaps and bounds since his debut as a teenage cricketer in 2008. From cussing expletives to holding his calm in tense moments, the Delhi lad has come a long way.

He has matured since then, mellowing down with captaincy and using words diplomatically. Being the skipper of the Indian cricket team, Kohli has made sure he uses his words wisely or else he knows it can brew up a controversy. The 28-year-old cricket star is quite social media savvy and knows exactly what to share so that it doesn’t become a fodder for media bytes and coverage. And his recent gesture only serves as a testament to that.

Kohli’s special Teachers’ Day tribute

Recently, he paid tribute to all former legends on the eve of Teacher’s Day. And he made sure not to limit it just to former Indian stars, but also included Australia and Pakistan legends who have made a recognizable contribution to the sport.

Kohli tweeted a pic of him sitting in front of a wall that had names of all cricketing greats. Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni was written in bold at the top, but as you go down, cricketing greats from other countries as well are also penciled.

The image includes the names of Australian legends such as Ricky Ponting, Glenn McGrath, West Indian Brian Lara, South African Jacques Kallis, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya and few Pakistan cricketers in Javed Miandad, Imran Khan, and Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Kohli captioned the image saying, “To all the teachers around the world and especially to the ones in the Cricket World. Happy Teacher’s Day.” However, what hogged the appraisal of the Twitterati was Kohli’s tribute to former Pak legends. Fans from across the border were overwhelmed and they appreciated Kohli’s gesture.
