Virat Kohli finally reveals his plan on maintaining his batting intensity at 35
At 29, it would seem a bit premature for the incumbent Indian skipper to think about retirement.
With Virat Kohli comes the sense of responsibility, it’s beautiful to see how he transfers his aggression while fielding to calmness while batting. Having already registered two tons in three one-day matches against a top-quality side, it won’t be wrong to say that this man is thrilled to bits. Time and again, Virat Kohli has been compared to the greatest of all time, Sachin Tendulkar and populous believes that the 29-year-old lad has everything that it demands to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
In the third one-day International, Virat registered his 34th one-day International hundred and became the first Indian to score 100 runs in singles and doubles. His efforts on the field demand fitness and one will have to say, he is doing that with perfection. Speaking to the media after the third straight win in South Africa, Virat Kohli revealed his plans when he turns 34-35.
Want to stay as fit as possible
He said, “I am going to be 30 this year. The decision [to focus on fitness] was in terms of extending the quality of cricket at an older age as well. That is my intention. I want to be able to play this kind of cricket even when I am 34 or 35. That’s why I train so much. I am a guy who plays with so much intensity. Once that is gone, I don’t know what I am going to do. So I try to protect that. I try to train as much as I can. Keep a check on my diet.”
He believes ‘amazing’ things happen only when a player is thinking about the team throughout and not concentrating on his personal milestones. He said, “Obviously, those things pay off on days like these when the team needs it. And you stand up and you’re able to pull through. Amazing things happen when you’re thinking of the team throughout. As an athlete, you crave for days like these. These are days that give you satisfaction and as a Team India player.”
