If IPL Auction 2018 was the biggest news that connected cricket fans across the globe on Saturday, then there was a game of Test cricket somewhere in South Africa. The match was rather being played under very unusual circumstances for batting. To frame in right sense, conditions were termed dangerous courtesy the uneven bounce that the pitch of the third test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg persisted to.

The Test match might haven’t affected the series winners but certainly to an extent was a litmus test for the Indian team that was playing for its pride and its earned reputation over the years at the ‘Bullring’ for not losing any game played at least in Whites.

Eventually, India emerged winners by 63 runs before the close of play at Day 4. A day that raised questions before its start much due to the unlikely behaviour of the pitch on the previous evening. Despite losing the series, it is a big win for the Sub-Continent giants as a victory against such a strong opposition is a tough job and more so as it suited Proteas’ style of cricket.

Cricketing world hails Team India

After being 2-0 down in the series, it required a tremendous effort from the boys to pull off a Test match in such confronting conditions but the aggressive attitude from the players and the will to show the world that we are here to win was evident from the actions on the field. This win came in as a relief after the two disappointing loses and that too from comfortable positions. And was rightly hailed by the ex-cricketers and the analyst who were now forced to literally eat their words after criticizing the team’s strategies in the first two tests.

After the win, continuing the trend, players in quest to share their emotions with the fans took to social media to express their delight after the emphatic win. Virat Kohli leading the charts here again posted a group picture from the dressing room where the entire team was seen posing for the camera as the test tour ends on a happy note despite the series loss. He even added a caption that reflected utter hard work and dedication towards something that you are desperate to achieve “Proud prouder proudest. Hats off to the whole team for showing character throughout. This day will always be special. Jai hind,” feels the captain.

This sets up the tone for rest of the tour as India is due to play six ODIs and three T-20Is against the Proteas, which promises to be a nervy battle between the two current heavyweights in the world cricket. The limited overs leg begins Feb 1 with first ODI at Kingsmead, Durban.
